In our new D-I-YCHECK program, you benefit from the freedom and efficiency of managing your investments yourself, while adding the security and expertise of our experienced investment consultants to your investing decisions.

How does the D-I-Y Coaching program work?

• The D-I-Y Coaching service starts when we create a personalized financial plan for you, including an analysis of your current portfolio and an appropriate target rate of return for your investments.
• We then develop a recommended asset allocation for you, matched to your goals and requirements.
• We provide all the details you need to implement and manage your own investment portfolio in a personalized Investment Policy Statement designed just for you.
• Your IPS includes information about how different investment strategies work and how they can work for you – including research and support materials for you to read and explore.
• You also get an implementation and transition strategy so you can incorporate your existing investments in your new portfolio.

Restriction: We will not at any point manage the investments, recommend individual securities, or actively make recommendations for buy and sell decisions. In short we do not interfere with the “do it yourself” process. Our purpose is to assist investors in understanding their options and making informed decisions with regard to the investing process.

Ongoing support at every stage

• Once the initial financial planning and investment policy statement work is complete, your Second Opinion consultant is available as a coach and sounding board throughout the year.
• You can rely on your consultant to add clarification on the strategies and options available to you at every stage of the investing process.
• The D-I-Y Coaching service also includes an annual review of your financial plan, as well as a complete plan updates if your situation changes significantly.
• We also review and assess your portfolio performance every year against relevant benchmark data, and fully review your account activity against the IPS to assist you in maintaining the integrity of your strategy and the stability of your portfolio.

 

How much does the D-I-Y Coaching service cost?

The cost of the D-I-Y Coaching service is based on the time it takes to perform the service and is almost certainly less than you are already paying if you are working with an investment advisor. And if you are currently managing your investments yourself - the cost of our service can provide significant peace of mind to your investing process for much less than the cost of moving to an investment advisor.
